TOUR OF IRONWORKS

Breakaway Overnighter

During the seventeenth-century number of ironworks were founded in Finland. Due to good supply to water power and easy access to the sea via rivers, Raasepori area has many of these ironworks. Our buddy Mikko has studied this area extensively. Thank Mikko's efforts we are able to share you a carefully crafted route that takes us through early industrial Finland.

Day 1

We will start at Mustio Manor, one of the most precious manor houses in Finland. Quiet and winding gravel roads will take us to visit Raseborg Castle Ruins and ironworks of Fagervik and Antskog. Next stop will be in fantastic Fiskars village, where we will have lunch. You will have time to explore the village on your own. Three-course dinner starts early at Mustio Manor so you will have plenty of time to recover before day two.

Day 2

Pure gravel bonanza! Day two will offer undulating gravel roads in peaceful surroundings. This route has a flow that will lull you into a zen state. Just before lunch, the route becomes a bit more technical. Fire roads and narrow trails will require some alertness. Mid-way lunch break will be held at Kehla Stall, oasis of gravel cyclists.
