Ask the hotel if they have an access point for the internet and how you know if you are logged on to the hotel system or not. If you are not sure ask for a hard
connection rather than use the wireless or blue-ray system. A lot of systems require you to enter payment for use of the service when you log on.
The scam artist will log on to the hotel service and then, when you try to log-on, you will log-on to their system, putting your credit details into a fake
detail page.
Then they have all the time in the world to spend your money.
When going through customs. Make sure that you keep you laptop with you until you walk through the x-ray machine. Then and only then, place it on the x-ray
machine belt for scanning. A lot of scam artists select a target based on those people who's laptop case is the same as the one they have previously selected for
targeting. Another good idea is to use a luggage tag that is instantly recognized. If someone walks off with your computer you can call attention to them.
