Flag Galapagos Archipelago
Galapagos Island
'The Start of Understanding'
The Galápagos Islands (Official name: Archipiélago de Colón, other Spanish names: Islas de Colón or Islas Galápagos, from galápago, "saddle" after the shells of saddlebacked Galápagos tortoises) are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed around the equator, 972 km west of continental Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean, of which they are a part.
Galapagos Flag
The Galapagos island flag has three colours, they are:
Green on top, White in the middle and Blue at the bottom.
The meaning of each colour is as follows:
Green:  Represents its unique wildlife and green landscapes.
White:  Is a tribute to peace.
Blue:  Stands for the beauty of the Pacific.
What makes the Galapagos Island so special. The Galapagos lizards are so tame you can walk right up to them. The Galapagos Islands have a unique range of animals and birds that are found nowhere else like the marine iguana, giant Galapagos tortoise, Darwin's finch, waved albatross and flightless cormorant. Because the wildlife has no natural fear of humans you can get up close to most of them.

The Islands has world class snorkelling and scuba diving. You can swim and dive with dolphins, sharks, whales, sea lions, penguins and sea turtles. Eye popping landscapes (like the huge lava tube) formed by the volcanic activity created the islands and the ability to tour in comfortable luxury yachts.
This is a very special destination and a worthy resort for a visit.

What to See
The marine life which inhabits the waters that surround the Galapagos Islands is just as fantastic as the wildlife found on shore, making Galapagos as one of the premier diving destinations in the world. The sheer abundance of life is amazing.

Will I be able to swim in the Sea?
Sea temperature is an important factor if you are planning to splash about on the beach. As a rule the sea is generally warmer towards the end of the summer season and most holiday makers find 20-25° is a comfortable temperature. www.sea-temperature.com is a excellent round-up of the world's waters, complete with current, average and recent temperatures.
