Gay Gender Symbols
These symbols have long been used to represent men and women. Symbols like these were given to each of the Roman gods (which were, of course, the same as the Greek gods, only with different names).

These symbols have long been used to represent men and women. Symbols like these were given to each of the Roman gods (which were the same as the Greek gods, only the names were different). They all involve a circle with an identifying marks attached. The circle with an arrow attached at the two o'clock position stands for Mars (Ares in Greek), god of war, and a strong symbol of masculinity. This symbol has come to stand for men.
The circle with the cross extending down stands for Venus (Aphrodite), goddess of love and beauty, and a symbol of femininity. Thus, the symbol represents women. Joining the two symbols together has come to represent heterosexuality.

Gay and Lesbian Symbols:
In the 1970s, gay men began using two interlocking male symbols to symbolize male homosexuality
Around the same time, some lesbians started using two interlocking female symbols to symbolize female homosexuality.
Bisexual:
Group
Bisexual configurations can be confusing to some. It starts with whatever sex the bisexual person is and puts a male symbol on one side and a female on the other
Transgender:

It's all over the web now. Maybe you've seen it around, most likely at GLBT events. Most folks seem to like it. A symbol for the transgender community. A symbol of pride and freedom. A rallying point. As a pin, something to hold your blouse closed when a button pops, or your tie in place when you forget your tie clip.
It links the internationally accepted symbols for male and female together with a new entity, which is a combination of the two, and which we call transgender. Some say the transgender are the missing link, whose destiny is to restore the connection between man and woman. The symbol includes everyone, excluding none. The circle is a symbol of wholeness, and represents the wholeness of a society which includes the transgender.
