Thailand provides numerous opportunities for diving and snorkelling around the country. There are countless outlets on Thailand’s
beaches and islands where diving and snorkelling can be tried out and equipment hired.
Snorkelling can be a challenging inexpensive, safe and of great enjoyment to you and to your family and opens a whole new world to you and you'll be able
to feast your eyes upon an abundance of tropical fish and coral only a few metres from the surface. You don't have to be a good swimmer as there is plenty to see
in fairly shallow waters around Thailand's beautiful coastline.
The equipment required is inexpensive to buy or hire. All that is required is a J-tube, mask and fins and then off to view a gigantic "aquarium".
The J-tube preferably should not be fitted with a valve as water pressure can cause the valve to block. The fins should be of rigid construction. The black
frogman type which covers the whole foot are preferable as the heel strap type can easily break. The mask should be one that covers the nose and mouth, and fitted
with toughened glass. Never wear ear or nose plugs as water pressure can easily force them inside.
Some other hints include not biting too hard on the mouth piece, it will only make your jaw sore. Rub saliva all over the inside of the mask glass, then rinse
with water and if you find the mask starting to tighten on the way down, just breathe out slowly through the nose.
The length of a dive is determined by how long you can hold your breath, which usually will get you down some four metres, a depth quite suitable for some
wonderful sight-seeing.

Will I be able to swim in the Sea?
Sea temperature is an important factor if you are planning to splash about on the beach. As a rule the sea is generally warmer towards the end of the summer season and
most holiday makers find 20-25° is a comfortable temperature.
