Possibly nowhere in the world is the calendar as filled with religious holidays as in Malaysia. And possibly nowhere in the world
is there an open-door policy like Malaysia's for religious festivals.
Due to the multi-racial population, Malaysia enjoys many festivals, some of which are nationally celebrated whilst other are confined to
individual states. Hence there tends to be some festival taking place in some corner of the country every week.
Most important events include:
Thaipusam, the Hindu Festival (January)
Chinese New Year (February)
Hari Raya Pusa (April)
Wesak Day (May)
The King's birthday (June 5th)
Penang Festival (September/October)
Malaysia Fest (September)
National Day (August 31st)
Deepavali, the Hindu Festival of Lights (October).
