Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Zhangjiajie, in central China, is a land of mountaintops and clouds (photo). Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - the first authorized
national forest park in China - has been variously described as majestic, eccentric, tranquil, delicate and wild.
One of China's most beautiful nature reserves, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a unique national forest located in Zhangjiajie City
in northern Hunan Province. The Forest Park was established by the state council in 1982 as the 1st national forest park of China. The park
is known for it's unique landscape with lush forests dominated by quartzite sandstone pillars. Bubbling brooks and charming lakes wind
around the area and connect giant caves.
 At every turn the ancient pines will stare, leaning like the crotchety old men they are in their ancient soil. In spring you will smell
the Goddess Flower camellia, the orchid, the Chinese Azelea. In summer your eye will be caught by the sweet gums, Magua trees and the verdant
green peaks; in autumn the blazing maples; in winter the frozen beauty of the glaciers. Here you can climb the Lotus Flower, or maybe the Bright
Summit or any of the other 72 peaks hidden by a sea of cloud, many still unexplored.
 The Park has wonderful hiking trails in a serene environment of staggering natural beauty. On the way up you will pass by monkeys,
deer, silver pheasant and the love-bird.
